Baptism

Romans 6:4 “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism unto death:”

Jesus taught the necessity of being born again of water and of spirit. He commissioned His disciples to baptize in Jesus’ name for the remission of sins. Water baptism is the New Testament means by which we put off the body of sins of the flesh and enter a covenant with God through belief in the blood of Jesus Christ.

Luke 24:46; Colossians 2:11-12; 1 Peter 3:21-22; Acts 22:16; Hebrews 9:14; Hebrews 10:17-18, 22; Hebrews 9:22; Colossians 3:17; John 3:1-

Do You Know?

Yes. Jesus said he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved... (Mark 16:16).

Jesus also said that ye must be born of the water and of the Spirit or you cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven (John 3:5). All the disciples interpreted being born of the water as water baptism.

Peter said that baptism doth also now save us (1Peter 3:21) .

Peter said that repentance and baptism in Jesus' name is for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38).

Peter commanded Cornelius and his household to be baptized (Acts 10:48).

Ananias told Paul that baptism in Jesus name washes away thy sins (Acts 22:16).

Paul rebaptized disciples of John because they were not baptized in Jesus name (Acts 19:5).

Paul understood the necessity of baptism, so he baptized the Philippian jailer in the middle of the night (Acts 16:33).

Philip undersood the necessity of baptism, so he baptized the Ethiopian eunuch in the desert (Acts 8:26-39).

There are only five examples in the New Testament Church that describe the mode of baptism. In all five examples, people were baptized in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5, Acts 22:16). There is not a single example of anyone being baptized in the titles "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost". If nobody was baptized that way in the Bible, why would anyone be baptized that way today?

The following preachers all baptized in Jesus' name: Peter, Paul, Philip, and Ananias.

If baptizing in the titles, "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost," is correct, then Peter, Paul, Philip, and Ananias all baptized the wrong way, which does not make sense. God's chosen preachers, baptized the way God wanted it done, which was in Jesus' name.

People commonly use the name of Jesus when praying for the sick, praying over their food, casting out devils, etc... It only makes sense that the name of Jesus would be used during baptism because  "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
